 The City of Bothell is hiring an&#xa0; Engineering Technician&#xa0; to support Public Works projects, including transportation, Capital Improvement Plan, and construction. This role assists with design, GIS/AutoCAD work, cost estimates, field data collection, and project documentation to support the delivery of civil engineering projects.

 Note: This position will be fully onsite for the first six months, after which eligibility for a hybrid work schedule may be considered. 
 
 
 &#xa0; 
 What will you do in this position? 
 
 
 
 Provide technical support to Public Works engineering programs, including transportation planning, the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and construction projects; performs assigned duties within the scope of authority, training, and area of responsibility, with duties varying by assignment. 
 
 
 Assist engineering staff in preparing designs, graphics, specifications, cost estimates, and technical documentation for Public Works projects. 
 
 
 Conduct research, analysis, and reviews of plans, reports, specifications, proposals, and estimates to support project development and ensure quality standards are met. 
 
 
 Support planning, design, coordination, and inspection of CIP, transportation, utility, and other civil engineering projects; exchanges technical information with regional agencies, businesses, and external partners. 
 
 
 Assist in developing technical drawings, maps, and GIS data using established GIS and AutoCAD systems; collects, verifies, and performs quality control on spatial data. 
 
 
 Participate in field data collection activities, including traffic studies and site inspections, to verify conditions and ensure compliance with City standards.

 About the SWM Planning Manager position 
 The SWM Planning Manager position oversees a wide range of key surface water programs in SWM, including the floodplain program, lakes program, salmon recovery planning program, salmon restoration capital projects, marine resources program, habitat monitoring program, GIS, native plant program, noxious weed program, river gaging, flood warning, and others. The combined annual program budget that is overseen by the Planning Manager is roughly $25.8 million in 2026. Successful candidates will therefore have a proven track record of managing multiple programs, overseeing large budgets, and implementing complex projects.&#xa0; 
 This position also oversees three supervisors that lead three different SWM groups with a total of 47.5 staff and 3-5 seasonal staff, as well as a WCC crew of six.  The programs under the Planning Manager position also involve a high degree of collaboration with numerous partners to be successful. As a result, the Planning Manager needs to have strong collaboration skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships with tribes, stakeholder groups, elected officials, citizens, government agencies, SWM staff, and other County departments.&#xa0; 
 The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and will be able to positively contribute to the overall management of the stormwater utility.
