Join the Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) team and use your skills, knowledge, expertise, experience, and passion to support a national nonprofit organization that works to provide clean water resources for all communities. CWP is looking for a self-motivated individual, with keen attention to detail, with at least 10 years of financial management experience dealing with grant, contracts, and accounting issues that are relevant to non-profit organizations that award and manage federal, state, local, and private sector grants and/or contracts. This position requires an individual that can work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines; works efficiently and effectively; is detail-oriented; has the skills, experience, and ability to proofread grants, contracts, invoices, and similar documents to ensure accuracy and minimize errors; has excellent oral and written communication skills;  is proficient in preparing and  developing documents, charts, budgets, spreadsheets, graphs, invoices and similar types of documents for grants, contracts, and accounting purposes; and has relevant experience managing governmental and non-governmental grants, contracts, and other funding vehicles. This position is mostly remote with possible occasional travel to the office, as necessary. In short, this position requires an individual with the requisite skills, experience, and knowledge to handle the financial, accounting, and administrative management tasks and responsibilities related to the proper award, execution, and management of federal and non-federal grants, contracts, and other funding vehicles.

Expected tasks and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Work with project managers and other staff to timely and accurately prepare, develop, and review invoices with backup, and ensure they adhere to applicable requirements
• Provide federal, state, local, and non-governmental grant and contract administrative and management support by ensuring required forms/reports/invoices/documents are developed, reviewed, and submitted timely and accurately
• Lead the submission of the negotiated indirect cost rate process and monitoring it regularly
• Involvement with the CWP budget process and eventually taking the lead in preparing, developing, and reviewing CWP budget and related documents
• Maintain, refine, and update the backlog of projects and the associated forms in Excel
• Accurately bill and include details for multi-year projects with federal funding, multiple funding sources, and/or match requirements
• Work in coordination with an accounting consultant to ensure audits,  single audits, and other financial reviews are conducted on a timely basis and accurately; and eventually assuming leadership for developing audit responses and positions
• Provide accurate and detailed reports on various financial management related issues such as strategic planning, budget, and project progress
• Actively participate in the management of files in accordance with legal, policy and organizational requirements and in partnership with the accounting team
• Participate and eventually lead regular accounting meetings to discuss any and all issues that impact the organization financially
• Make recommendations to accommodate future organizational growth, organizational financial needs, and ways to improve organizational financial management practices
• Work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team; maintain close attention to detail to ensure documents, filings, and reports are accurate; meet deadlines; keep supervisors informed of project status; and promptly raise important issues to higher level management so appropriate action can be taken
• Other relevant duties and responsibilities associated with financial management tasks

Qualifications: Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting, project management, math, or other related field connected to financial management responsibilities. Strong written and oral interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail, is essential with a  knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and federal regulations/policies on contracts, grants, and accounting practices.  Additional skills and experience needed for this position include:

• Solid skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
• Acceptable A+ tier credit score
• Ability to innovate and problem-solve.
• Experience with NICRA (negotiated indirect rate cost rate agreements)
• Experience in Big Time, QuickBooks Desktop, and NetSuite is a plus
• Experience with auditing, GAAP, and non-profit accounting
• Must pass background and credit checks

Salary and Benefits: This position is expected to pay between $65,000 to $90,000 full-time. depending on experience and qualifications. CWP offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes IT support for work at home, a generous leave policy, health/ dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) match of 5% after one year of employment. Part-time employment may be considered for the right candidate.
