Position Summary
The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI) of Sinai Health, a University of Toronto affiliated research centre, is seeking four emerging leaders in the broad area of Biomedical Discovery Research (2 positions) and Population Health Data Science (2 positions). Theappointments will be for Full-Time Principal Investigators with the anticipated starting date of September 1, 2026, or a date to be mutually agreed upon. The LTRI provides competitive start-up packages and salaries, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We seek applicants who will develop independent, outstanding and innovative research programs.
Biomedical Discovery Research: We are seeking new colleagues, rank equivalent to Assistant Professors, spanning all areas with a specific focus on one of the following topics:
(i) Systems, Cellular, Chemical or Molecular Biology of human health or disease (broad biomedical sciences). Examples of topics of interest include the investigation of fundamental biological processes at the molecular, cell or organismal levels; disease modeling and pathophysiology; therapeutic discovery and development. We welcome applications in all areas of relevance to human health, but we especially encourage applications in the areas of strategic focus to our institution, which include oncology, women’s & infants’ health, and inflammatory conditions, which we define as encompassing auto-immune conditions, infectious diseases, metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes) and neurodegeneration.
(ii) One position will be reserved for candidates who focus on stem cell biology and tissue engineering and their applications to trauma, maintenance, and regeneration of mesenchymal tissues. The successful candidate will be the inaugural holder of the Tanenbaum Chair in Musculoskeletal Regenerative Medicine at Sinai Health and the University of Toronto.
Population Health Data Science: We will consider applicants, rank equivalent to Assistant or Associate Professors, spanning all areas of Population Health Data Science, including complex disease epidemiology, infectious disease research, risk prediction modeling, population and medical data linkage, geospatial data mining, multi-omics data integration, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in health sciences, such as causal machine learning, deep learning for medical imaging, generative AI and more. The positions are open to both those who are specialized in methodological development, as well as those focused on innovative applications to impactful population health issues. The health topics include but are not limited to perinatal and maternal-child health, cancers, cardiometabolic conditions, autoimmune diseases and other complex health issues.
