Chemist III or Engineer II
As a key member of the Product Development Team at Quantum Copper (QC), this individual will provide critical scientific skills to assist in the development and scale-up of products incorporating Quantum Copper’s Fire retardant additive into commercial polymer resins. The initial focus will be on components for lithium ion batteries to make them safer. Future projects will include fire retardant films, fibers, and fabrics

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Design and develop experiments to produce compounded flame retardant polymer resins.
Planning, conducting, analyzing results, and use of lab notebook to document experiments.
Execute all responsibilities with excellence in EHS and compliance
Manufacturing and scale-up of flame retardant resins.
Understand our core compounding technology including global operational excellence and commercial scale up of new products
Good laboratory practices and basic knowledge to handle chemicals.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills to ensure thorough information tracking in material management systems associated with development and production.
Display strong teamwork skills as part of the development and production team to ensure effective communication in a multi-functional team setting.
Create an enduring and transformational competitive advantage for Quantum Copper through application of strong intellectual property (IP) capability, including patent applications, freedom-to-operate studies, and competitive intelligence
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, or Chemistry
Three (3) or more years' polymer manufacturing or industrial research experience (preferred)
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, or Chemistry or related area
Five (5) or more years' polymer manufacturing or industrial research experience
Experience with statistical and data analysis
BENEFICIAL SKILLS
Experience with polymer compounding and the development of new polymer formulations
Five (5) or more years' polymer processing or industrial research experience
Five (5) or more years' Polymer Chemistry experience
Experience in research and development of a wide range of materials or polymers
Experience in patent development and landscaping
