Escondido lies 30 miles northeast of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles, just 18 miles from the coast. The City Engineer reports to the Director of Development Services and oversees 27 FTEs in the Engineering Services Division consisting of CIP, land development, traffic and inspection, with a FY 23-24 operating budget of $3.2 million and a CIP budget of $20 million. Escondido seeks a City Engineer with strong technical expertise in public infrastructure planning and design and broad experience managing complex capital improvement projects and overseeing land development cases.
