Join the Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) team and use your skills to make a substantial difference in watershed practices across the nation. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and 3 to 5 years of related experience. The role of this position will vary on the candidate’s strengths and will include opportunities to work on a wide variety of CWP projects. Preference for candidates that live in Pennsylvania, but this is a remote position and applicants will be considered anywhere in the U.S. based on qualifications. The role of this position will vary on the candidate’s strengths and will include opportunities to work on a wide variety of other CWP projects that include:
- Designing innovative systems of structural and non-structural stormwater practices to improve water quality
- Conducting site assessments for water quality improvements and stormwater retrofits
- Writing planting guidance for construction projects
- Writing national and state guidance manuals to build more effective local stormwater programs and design more effective stormwater practices
- Working with local governments to develop watershed plans that protect sensitive natural resources
- Working with local governments in developing and implementing Stormwater Management Programs
- Conducting literature reviews and research on stormwater and watershed questions
- Teaching your skills to others at conferences, presentations, and workshops
This full-time permanent position is a work at home position with periodic work from Maryland or other locations throughout the country.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s in landscape architecture or related field. Strong writing and speaking skills essential, with demonstrated ability to translate complex engineering and science concepts into clear and understandable terms. Additional desirable skills and experience include:
- Knowledge of stormwater regulations and design standards (both urban and agricultural)
- Experience working with local or state governments
- Experience in Stormwater BMP/Green Stormwater Infrastructure Design
- Experience in landscape architecture design and renderings
- Experience in NPDES MS4 permitting and program development
- Knowledge of floodplain regulations
- Expertise with CAD and GIS software
- Experience in project management
Landscape Architecture licensure and experience in project and grant management is a plus. This position is primarily virtual but requires field work and travel throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and other parts of the country for projects as needed. Actual travel is expected to be less than 20% per year.
