SMMA seeks an experienced Commissioning Group Leader to join SMMA’s Building Commissioning team. The position involves assisting owners, engineers, and construction professionals to observe proper installation and performance of building systems. Given SMMA’s integrated and multidisciplinary composition, the role affords a chance to coordinate and work closely with staff across numerous areas of design and engineering expertise and provides exposure to a variety of project and client types.

Execute Design Reviews for HVAC documents at Schematic, DD and CD design.
Read Technical Documents (Construction Documents, Shop Drawings, and Project Specifications)
Perform and produce building observation reports independently
Observe and report manufacturer's start-ups with detail
Create system verification checklists from Technical Documents
Create and execute functional performance tests for building systems commissioning
Administer SMMA’s commissioning data base
Other related commissioning activities
Lead project meetings, initially in support of senior commissioning agents
Ability to develop project budgets independently

Skills and Qualifications:
10-12 years’ experience in building systems commissioning.
Bachelor’s degree or two-year Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Professional Engineering Registration preferred
Certified Building Commissioning Professional / Certified Commissioning Professional Certification preferred
Experience with direct digital building automation and control systems.
K-12 Public School Commissioning experience required.
LEED documentation experience required.
Strong experience in Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated to research the task at hand and ask questions when needed.
Must possess a valid driver’s license for travel to project sites.
Access to personal automobile a plus.
Must be comfortable working on active construction sites and using digital tools to work outside of the office.
