Senior Transportation Engineer

This position performs professional work to assist the Transportation and Mobility Department (“Department”) in the planning, coordination, design, construction, and administration of various mobility projects and initiatives.  Work involves management and performance of complex professional and technical work in the areas of transportation planning and traffic engineering and operations. The incumbent will use sound professional and independent judgment \in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, and to ensure the advancement of the City’s Strategic Vision and adopted transportation/mobility master plans.

This position will supervise Transportation Analysts in the Department, engage in project management, consultant management, and other activities assigned to and undertaken by the Transportation Analysts, review and provide technical input on all work products in collaboration with their supervisor, and make recommendations on project approach, methodology, and direction. The incumbent will report to and be supervised by a higher-level administrator in the Department who will review progress, work products, and assess performance.  The job duties of this position are not of a routine, clerical or ministerial nature and may require attendance at evening meetings including presentations to City Boards and Committees, neighborhood/business associations, civic groups, and other agencies as necessary.
