Qualification Summary The idea candidate Leads studies and participates as study team member for campaign analysis of potential future wars, analyzing system solutions to complex and challenging USAF problems. AF/A9I is the premier AF operations analysis team examining operational-level warfighting, and the preparation for such wars, for the Secretary of the AF, the Chief of Staff of the AF, and other senior AF leaders. A9I ensures the future Air Force, & Joint Force, can be relied on to project power and achieve national defense strategy objectives.
Employee asked to display the highest quality critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical thinking regarding future military performance and developing practical solutions. Will support the development, execution, and processing of mission- and campaign-level combat modeling & simulation (M&S) representations, databases, and analyses of US, allied, and adversary forces executing warfighting concepts of operation. Primary tools include M&S, mathematical programming, parametric and non-parametric statistics and data analysis/visualization, and applied military history. Experience developing and executing analysis and study plans that address complex problems, examine trade-offs and sensitivities; and creating, presenting, and publishing study reports and briefings to senior leaders a plus.
Key Requirements: • Must be a U.S. Citizen • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Research + at least 1-5 years of specialized experience. • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance • Drug Testing Required – Subject to Random Drug Test
Skills and Knowledge:
• Knowledge of a broad range of computer science and operations research methods and techniques to store, manipulate, transform or present information by means of computer systems. • Knowledge of computer coding techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions. • Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions. • Skill in negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts, • Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints. • Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use computer models and simulation techniques. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations. _____________________________________________________________________________________
Other Significant Facts:
• A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in operations research, computer science, data science, analytics, engineering, mathematics, economics, one of the physical or social sciences, or a closely related scientific discipline is highly desired. An advanced academic degree (masters or PhD) in one of these disciplines is preferred. • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. • The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. • Must exhibit a high degree of judgement, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology. • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements for the Engineering, Intermediate level, Acquisition position –Not-critical certification guidelines applicable to the duties of this position.
