The Professional Engineer serves as a high level expert for the Everglades and Estuaries Protection Bureau under the Ecosystem Restoration & Capital Projects Division. The incumbent is responsible for providing project management and engineering insight for water resources management and water quality restoration in support of the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program (NEEPP) and the Everglades Forever Act (EFA).

The incumbent must have a diverse knowledge of South Florida water resources and water quality issues, as well as working knowledge of engineering standards and practices for the design, construction and operation of storm water treatment and storage facilities. The incumbent must demonstrate extensive technical expertise and working experience in one or more of the primary roles of this position:

1. Hydrology and Hydraulics
2. Data Analyses, Planning and Performance Evaluation
3. Project Management
4. Everglades Watersheds

Experience in planning, construction, operation and maintenance of water resources engineering projects and/or water management projects, development of operational plans, and hydrologic/hydraulic calculations is preferred. State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License is required. Or, if PE license is from another state, the candidate must become licensed by endorsement in Florida within six months from date of hire.

ENGINEER SUPERVISOR

The Engineer Supervisor is a professional position responsible for overseeing technical programs with a team of Scientists and Engineers to complete complex and high profile assignments to support Everglades Restoration efforts and the Bureau of Everglades and Estuaries Protection. Ecosystem restoration is through the implementation of projects and programs mandated by the Everglades Forever Act and the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program. Programs and projects include source controls through best management practice implementation to reduce nutrients, storm water projects, water quality monitoring, research, and demonstration projects. Primary focus will be the Southern Everglades and the Everglades Forever Act requirements for source controls.

Responsibilities include:

Lead and supervise technical staff, manage high profile/high priority programs and projects supporting District ecosystem restoration goals, and implement regulatory programs. The position coordinates with diverse technical teams and stakeholders under tight deadlines.

Preferred expertise includes implementing regulatory programs, developing water quality monitoring networks, analyzing water quality data, optimizing source control plans to effect nutrient reductions in storm water runoff, solving technical problems taking into account District operation and overlapping/conflicting goals, and preparing technical presentations and publications.

Management concepts and methods that incorporate scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, procurement, and integration management skills.
