We are seeking a highly motivated R&D, Systems Engineer to join the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) Process Management and Integration Department as an authority in the development of requirements for the NNSA Defense Programs Business Process System (DPBPS).
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work in teams (with other department, Division 2000, M&O Contractor, and NNSA federal and contractor participants) and independently to conduct the development of NSE-wide business and programmatic requirements to advance nuclear weapon activities.
Apply experienced technical, business and programmatic judgment using sound methodologies and principles to recognize risks, opportunities and issues, and formulate appropriate solutions to advance the DPBPS Program.
Demonstrate political acumen during interactions and project activities with high visibility to NNSA and M&O Contractor management.
Utilize effective communication skills to articulate competing perspectives and potential issues regarding requirements content to SNL management, M&O contractors and NNSA customers.
Day-to-day aspects of the job include: being cognizant of DOE, NNSA and DPBPS requirements applicable to nuclear weapons activities in the NSE contractor community, NNSA federal community or both, and working with DPBPS content teams to develop requirements that drive continual improvement while supporting the DPBPS Federal Program Manager.
Approximately 10% travel.
About Our Team
The Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) Integration Department functions as the Product Realization Requirements Office (PRRO). The PRRO provides technical and administrative support to NNSA for the Defense Programs Business Process System (DPBPS). DPBPS is the requirements system by which the NNSA realizes nuclear weapons and manages nuclear weapon programs. The department supports NNSA and M&O Contractors in the development and configuration management of Federal and Inter-Agency requirements content applicable across the NSE.

Qualifications We Require
Bachelor’s degree and advanced degree in a relevant STEM discipline; or Bachelor' s degree in a relevant STEM discipline plus five years of relevant experience in lieu of an advanced degree.
Five years of relevant experience in product realization, systems engineering, quality engineering or requirements management.
Three years of relevant experience in writing or implementing written technical and/or business requirements.
The ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
Demonstrated experience in performing nuclear weapon product realization activities per DPBPS requirements (such as through SNL’s Realize Product Procedures).
Demonstrated experience developing or guiding others through technical, business or programmatic processes.
Demonstrated ability to elicit customer input, manage customer interactions, produce required deliverables, and otherwise meet customer expectations in a competent and professional manner.
Familiarity with US Govt. nuclear weapon policies and directives and their associated quality and/ or process systems.
Ability to self-start, work independently, and exercise mature judgment with only broad direction.
History of working in a team environment as an amiable and effective team member.
Familiarity with NNSA and/or DoD nuclear weapon development programs.
Established positive relationships with NNSA HQ and field federal organizations relevant to this posting.
Experience in the application of ISO9000, Lean/Six Sigma, and other continual improvement methodologies as a practitioner, auditor, or facilitator.
Experience delivering classroom instruction and/or group facilitation.
Active US DOE L-level security clearance with the ability to obtain a US DOE Q-level security clearance.
