Coastal Engineer, Moffatt & Nichol, Norfolk, VA. Develop and grow a blend of civil, water, and coastal engineering capabilities locally and across the firm. Assist senior engineers to deliver client commitments. Perform engineering, modeling and analysis for civil water infrastructure projects that include surface water hydrology and hydraulics, flood risk management and estuarine/coastal restoration and protection. Develop and use hydraulic and coastal models. Automate pre-and post-processing of modeling data. Prepare project scope and fee proposals. Assess and plan watershed in the coastal environment.
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Must have a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Civil Engineering or a related field, plus one (1) year of work experience in coastal engineering project design and analysis.
Must have one (1) year experience with each of the following:
Storm water management and infrastructure / BMP design;
Storm water hydrology and hydraulics in the coastal environment;
Urban flood risk and floodplain management;
Flood protection and resilience;
Low impact development/green infrastructure; and
Working with at least three (3) of the following software: Delft3D, SWAN, DHI Mike Modeling Suite, SOBEK, ADCIRC, XBEACH, SBEACH, GENESIS / GENCADE, XPSWMM 1D or XPSWMM 2D, USACE HEC modeling suite (HEC RAS, HEC HMS).
