The College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and consists of six departments: Economics, Finance, Graphic Communications, Marketing, Management, and the School of Accountancy. It also houses Military Leadership, Aerospace Studies, and several Centers. The College of Business has two campuses, the main campus in Clemson and the graduate campus in a new, state of the art building in downtown Greenville (30 miles from Clemson). The college offers six undergraduate degree programs, five specialized master’s degrees, an MBA and two Ph. D. programs (Economics and Management). Undergraduate enrollment in the college is approximately 4,200 and graduate enrollment is approximately 800. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Senior Associate Dean will serve on the College Leadership Team and be responsible for strategic initiatives and planning and coordinating the implementation of the College of Business strategic plan. As such, the Senior Associate Dean will translate the College’s strategic vision into actionable steps, work closely with the Dean, Associate Dean, Chairs and Center Directors to implement and execute the College’s strategic vision, and oversee College finances/budget to align resources in support of the College’s strategic vision. In addition, the Senior Associate Dean will perform benchmarking and tracking of metrics using institutional and external data, serve as the Associate Dean for Research, provide oversight regarding accreditation (SACS and AACSB), and complete other tasks assigned by the Dean. A Ph.D. in business or economics with a record of proven leadership and one deserving of tenure, ideally at the rank of full professor, at an R1 institution. Preferably, the candidate will have a minimum of five years of leadership experience (e.g., serving as an associate/assistant dean, managing an academic department, chairing a promotion and tenure committee) at a research university. The ideal candidate will also have experience with the recruitment, development, and retention of faculty and staff in order to develop and promote the College’s strategic vision and be able to effectively engage with the Chairs. In addition, candidates should have experience with grant processes, university budgeting and finance models, the tenure and promotion review and evaluation processes, accreditation, and university strategic planning. Candidates must have the ability to lead groups comprising representatives of diverse academic programs and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Experience and involvement with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population is required. The ideal start date is August 2020. |
