Duties and Responsibilities

  • Capacity and traffic analysis for individual intersections and corridors
  • Review Traffic Management Plans for construction staging
  • Review Traffic Impact Studies
  • Use software packages including Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCM and MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience using MS SQL Database to export data and create ad hoc reports
  • Complete work using traffic engineering principles and Ontario Traffic Manuals (or other relevant reference materials)
  • Attend Public Open Houses and Stakeholder meetings to listen to concerns and convey technical information
  • Undertake work such as site investigations and traffic data collections
  • Assist technical staff with additional duties as assigned
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and communication with internal and external colleagues

Skills and Qualifications

  • A graduate from a minimum three year Community College in Transportation/ Civil Engineering Technology or related field
  • Certification with OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or candidate working towards obtaining certification will be considered
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in Transportation and/or Traffic Engineering with emphasis on micro modelling and microsimulation
  • Strong knowledge with current Transportation Software, such as Synchro, SimTraffic and HCM
  • Strong knowledge with current modelling software such as VISSIM (including Dynamic Assignment)
  • Solid knowledge in areas of traffic operations and traffic analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and also within a fast paced multidisciplinary team environment
