The City of Hillsboro is seeking a professional, collaborative, proactive, forward thinking leader to join their Capital and Development Division in Public Works.
The principal function of an employee in this position is to deliver and manage capital projects in the development of public roadways and utilities as well as lead design teams. These projects generally involve project design, right-of-way acquisition, acquiring permits, managing consultants, managing budgets, and working with the public, private developers, engineers, and contractors, and with external public and private organizations.
Responsibilities will include coordinating with consultants, contractors, finance professionals, operations and maintenance personnel, and peer engineering managers, project managers, coordinators, and administrative personnel in the development of engineering plan sets and specifications; the development and maintenance of construction standards and procedures; interacting with the general public to address concerns related to capital improvement projects; and designing in house projects. This person will also be responsible for managing project budgets and contracts associated with their capital projects. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.

General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class is to focus on project management responsibilities. Incumbents, as assigned, are responsible for development, coordination, and implementation of ongoing projects including report writing and presentation, conducting research; providing citizen service and project management related to City resources and may be responsible for overseeing designated projects, programs and resources. Incumbents serve as supervisors overseeing staff and conducting performance evaluations.
Acceptable Experience and Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, environmental engineering, geology, construction engineering management, business management or closely related field and five years of experience in project management of engineering design projects; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Possession of a valid State Driver’s License and safe driving record.
