Patrick Engineering is undergoing an exciting expansion and looking for new talent to take on a variety of technical leadership roles and key roles on our mega-project teams. We are seeking a Senior Scheduler to join a Joint Venture team managing a multi-year $1B transportation project in Boston, MA. This large, complex Program provides a rare opportunity to collaborate on a multifaceted cross-functional Program Management/Construction Management team. The Senior Scheduler is responsible for providing scheduling support on major projects in various stages of planning, design and/or construction, including tracking and managing the schedule elements of the various projects. This position reports to the Program’s Project Controls Manager. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, as they will work with Senior Program Management staff to effectively communicate all aspects relating to the various project schedules and impacts to the overall Program schedule.
Develop and maintain schedules to include an adequate level of detail associated with all phases of a project, from kickoff to project closeout. Levels of schedule detail will include: baseline schedule, Level I summary schedule, Level II detailed planning and design schedule, Level III contract schedule, look-ahead schedules and integrated project schedules.
Develop contract-time-determination schedules
Cost load schedules and develop work breakdown structures that correlate cost estimates with the schedules.
Provide technical review of design schedules, including Baselines and monthly updates, including written analysis
Provide technical review of construction schedules, including Baselines and monthly updates, including written analysis
Review and analyze time extension requests and time-impact analyses
Advise project team on technical schedule concerns, impacts, and provide recommended solutions
Effectively work with project managers, construction field inspectors, risk managers, consultants, and other parties throughout the project
Provide clear, concise technical schedule reports
Analyze and report on schedule actuals and trends against baselines and forecasts
Forecast, report, and flag for Senior Management schedule issues as they arise
Perform ‘what-if’ schedule scenarios
Coordinate with project team members to perform routine updates to schedule.
Work with project team to establish and then maintain detailed cash flow forecasts.
Track actual costs for the management team, designers and construction contracts, for direct comparison to the project plan.
Perform detailed schedule and cost assessments, coordinate evaluation of task/project percent complete, and perform earned value analysis and assess the impact(s) of design/construction changes and schedule alterations.
Participate in project meetings to provide updates on cost, scheduling and project controls related activities.
Participate in Value Engineering and Risk Analysis Workshops.
Create and run reports as necessary to support the project team including resource histograms, cash flow, schedule milestone reports, etc.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
Minimum 15 years hands-on construction scheduling experience on complex projects. Experience on transportation projects, rail/transit, and/or power/communications projects is preferred.
Relevant project controls experience from initial project development through completion including: CPM scheduling, cost estimating, cost analysis, risk analysis/assessment, performance analysis, EVM and change management is preferred.
Competency in developing and reviewing large project schedules, the use of coding, complicated Work Breakdown Structures, and interfacing points
Experience with schedule analyzer programs and interpreting output for application on projects in conjunction with contract terms and conditions
Must have experience with and the ability to understand Earned Value, codes of accounts, Project Controls Roles and Responsibilities, and Change Management
Knowledge and understanding of ANSI 748
Knowledge and understanding of general project management processes (schedule management, submittals, RFIs, invoicing, payments, daily reports, etc.).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, charts, etc.), and similar experience with Microsoft Access is a plus.
