The City of Portland is seeking MULTIPLE Senior Engineering Associates with a Traffic Specialty within the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT)!
General Classification Information: Senior Engineering Associates with a Traffic Specialty are responsible for performing intermediate to complex traffic engineering work involving the application of advanced technical engineering knowledge to the design and operation of the City's transportation system.
Duties may include:
Designing and reviewing plans and specifications for temporary and permanent traffic control devices, transportation infrastructure and street lights
Designing and reviewing electrical wiring for signalized intersections; managing construction or maintenance projects; creating as-builts and records keeping
Performing traffic capacity analysis to maximize efficiency and safety of City's arterials for all modes of transportation
Investigating and resolving traffic safety and operations problems
Reviewing and approving work zone traffic control plans
Performing, reviewing and analyzing Traffic Impact Analysis and/or determining public improvements to support Transportation Development Review
Working with traffic signal controllers and addressing signal phasing and timing changes to balance efficiency for all modes of transportation
Working with a variety of traffic signal software
Additionally, this position may oversee, coordinate, review the work of support staff, technical, and entry level engineering staff, and inspect field installations by contractors and city personnel
Senior Engineering Associates works with a broad range of internal and external customers and are expected to deliver a high level of customer service and to carry out their individual responsibilities with initiative, independence and creativity while exercising sound professional problem-solving skills.
