A Building Science Consultant at CTA represents a crucial piece of the complex building-design puzzle. As a member of this team, you will be collaborating in a group of building envelope specialists, architects, mechanical engineers, designers, and drafters. You’ll be celebrated for your excellent communication skills and your ability to handle many projects and lots of moving parts.

A Building Science Consultant at CTA…
Responsibilities include working with the Roofing and Building Envelope team on project deliverables and prospective business opportunities on a variety of projects, providing building science expertise on assigned projects in collaboration with other team members, assisting with the preparation of plans, designs, calculations, analyses in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, and other specifications, and assist teams with building envelope design and condition assessments for clients with a variety of building types. Individually you should have experience in building construction and investigating building problems, which may include difficulties related to concrete, curtain walls, flooring, glazing, masonry, sealants, waterproofing, wood, windows, and building science issues, excellent communication skills, a team attitude, and a self-starting work ethic with minimal supervision required.
Has a fearlessness of heights, including climbing ladders and scaffolds and rope access
Can conduct field investigations and reviews of building envelope construction on both new construction and rehabilitation projects to determine design and repair options, building investigation reports, and other construction documents
Is interested and has enthusiasm for buildings and solving problems
Displays excellent communication skills, organizational standards, and time management skills
Can estimate construction costs for new building and rehabilitation systems for projects
You’ll love this role if you:
Have 5-8 years’ experience as a building science consultant or equivalent alternate experience in building design or construction
Prioritize work sharing, knowledge transfer, and standards development
Have an exceptional attention to detail with the ability to comprehend the scope and process for each project
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or other Building Construction Related field preferred
