The Dutchess County Water and Wastewater Authority is seeking a Project Manager: Water and Wastewater for a county-wide authority. This is a full–time professional position responsible for the development and oversight of municipal water and wastewater capital improvement projects from initial conception to final completion. The Project Manager reports directly to the Executive Director, is part of the organization’s management team, and may supervise subordinate staff. The position develops project performance criteria, budgets and schedules, prepares documents for procurement of professional consultants and contractors, and monitors projects, consultants and contractors for conformance to project cost, schedule and technical objectives. The position will typically be responsible for multiple projects, and may perform small project design. The Project Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Authority’s five year capital plan. This position interacts with the Operations Department in the defining of projects, obtaining input during the design phase of projects and coordinating construction and commissioning.
Minimum Qualifications: EITHER
Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or closely related field and 5 years of post-degree experience in environmental or civil engineering, project management or construction management, which involved significant responsibilities for the overall administration of projects; OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or closely related field and 7 years work experience as described above.
Preference is given to candidates with 10 years’ experience in water and wastewater project management, construction oversight and facility planning.
Special Requirement: Possession of a license as a professional engineer in the State of New York at the time of appointment. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Permanent appointment to the position is subject to civil service examination.
