About Georgia Institute of Technology - School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Georgia Tech has a long tradition of excellence in engineering education. We believe that our strong reputation is based on several factors, including our attention to engineering fundamentals, investments in state-of-the-art technology, and the world-class scholars that comprise CEE's faculty.
Civil and environmental engineering are broad and diverse engineering disciplines that work on many facets of improving the human condition. The construction of all things big and small are long-standing examples of civil engineering projects from clean drinking water, to designing and implementing efficient and safe transportation systems, to constructing buildings and bridges that survive seismic activity, to building dams for hydropower and flood control. Today our faculty and students are working on problems that go far beyond these traditional areas to provide growing populations with innovative solutions needed to survive in a global society. Civil and environmental engineers both focus on the needs of people.
The need for civil and/or environmental engineers will only increase in the future as society copes with expandin...g urbanization, decaying infrastructures, global climate change, and an increase in the human population. The civil and environmental engineering job markets provide opportunities for our graduates both nationally and internationally. Earning a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering at Georgia Tech will prepare our graduates for a future career in an engineering discipline that is expanding and changing in concert with the world in which we live in. We encourage well-qualified prospective students to consider this long-standing, dynamic, and broad engineering discipline as their academic program of choice and to join the school where we believe, "People are our priority and the world is our laboratory."
