Under supervision of a professional engineer, performs professional-level civil engineering work in connection with a variety of Public Works projects. The Civil Engineer analyzes, researches, plans, and designs municipal structures and systems, reviews development plans, and/or leads technical support staff in the work of the assigned section. Incumbents frequently use professional judgment in analyzing engineering data and system problems. May be assigned to perform limited section supervisory responsibilities.
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or registration as an engineer-in-training OR any combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required.
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must pass a thorough background investigation.
Must maintain a level of physical and mental fitness necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must have a valid Washington State Driver License and a driving record acceptable to the City and the City's insurance carrier.
Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be complete as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
