The City of Lima, Ohio is currently accepting resumes for the position of Civil Engineer II. Under direction, responsibilities for this position include: Performs engineering functions; prepares final design plans and specifications; estimates quantities for public works projects; prepares drawings and sketches for staff presentations; reviews field survey notes; prepares project cost analysis; researches organizational records to answer questions of contractors and general public; assists Building Administrator to interpret construction plans; preparation of feasibility studies; maintains official traffic control map; serves as chief design and sanitary engineer for division; supervises Engineering Division Engineering Technicians; assigns tasks; provides direction and ensures work complies with organizational standards; reviews and analyzes work product of subordinate personnel; trains and instructs subordinate personnel.
Qualified candidates must possess the following: Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE) within one (1) year or five (5) years relevant experience as an engineer.
Pay Rate: $27.18 per hour

Lima is located in northwestern Ohio along Interstate 75 approximately 72 miles (116 km) north of Dayton and 78 miles (126 km) south-southwest of Toledo. Lima is the county seat of Allen County, Ohio, United States, and has a population of 38,000. The City of Lima Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of City buildings, 160 miles of public streets, the storm sewer system in the public rights-of-way, City parks, all recreational events, fleet maintenance, and operation of the city pool. Services of the Division of Engineering include the oversight of the maintenance and construction of public streets, sidewalks, street lighting, traffic lights, parks and recreational areas, pedestrian bikeways and public facilities within the city limits. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, plan review, GIS mapping, surveying, flood plain research, and platting.
