The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, applying and maintaining quality standards for Tandus' products and processes. This position is key to our continuous improvement efforts and serves as a leader in both problem identification and resolution efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, implements and maintains methods for process control, process improvement, quality testing and product inspection
Leads multiple DMAIC, FI 7Step or PDCA based focused improvement projects and project teams.
Regularly conducts and evaluates quality testing methods, recommends changes and works with management to implement such changes
Monitors production methods to ensure consistency with engineering documentation. Reviews customer orders and product change requests to ensure necessary criteria are included in quality and process plans
Serves as the primary Quality Assurance resource for customers and management, responds quickly and accurately to problem identification/resolution inquiries
Analyzes quality issues, evaluates processes and implements corrective action plans in coordination with the Director of Quality
Develops, implements and provides training on standard work procedures involving quality control
Utilizes lean manufacturing concepts to implement methods or techniques which improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
REQUIREMENTS (including educational):
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
5 years minimum experience
Previous experience and working knowledge of automotive industry requirements is preferred
Lead Auditor experience is a plus
Strong understanding of inspection/control methods, techniques and documentation requirements
Working knowledge of TS 16949, ISO 9001 or similar standard
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to analyze processes and draw valid conclusions from testing results
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
Must have the ability to work well in a team setting, yet manage projects independently
Strong computer skills, including QA applications, statistical software and Microsoft Office programs
Must pass pre-employment drug screen
