This position will support the Maintenance of Way Administration group with the M of W random testing program. It will interact with the Department of Regulatory Oversight and the Designated Employer representative (DER) so that the pools are accurate and the testing percentages can be reliably met.
Support Managers of Administration in all tasks related to M of W – Random testing requirements.
Distribute random test assignments for over 50 percent of the M of W workforce while providing a high level of confidentiality.
Distribute follow-up test assignments on a monthly basis for both federal and company authority tests while providing a high level of confidentiality.
Assist in providing monthly validation of the M of W employee pool such as keeping track of employee leave of absences, newly hired M of W employees, removing terminations, and corresponding with field managers in regard to vacation assignments.
Execution and distribution of testing forms, record keeping – filing completed forms.
Backup escort for employees located in the GCT HQ.
Follow up on disciplinary actions for positive tests.
Provide support to Managers of Administration in the M of W department for day to day administrative functions such as hiring processes, onboarding, position management, scheduling, handling of expense accounts etc

Associate’s degree in business or related field. Demonstrated equivalent education/experience and or technical education to include two (2) additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in a progressively responsible administrative position.
Minimum one (1) year of experience managing a staff, program(s) and/or process(es).
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.
Experience in computer programming or related field.
As an employee of Metro-North Railroad you may be required to complete a New York State financial disclosure statement, if you earn more than $97,448.00 or if you hold a position designated as a policy maker. Effective September 2017, all full-time non-agreement personnel other than those directly involved with the movement of trains or delivery of service, or assigned to other emergency response teams, are required to serve in the Station Terminal Auxiliary Response (STAR) program requiring Terminal coverage for Grand Central Terminal (GCT) from 4:30 PM-7:30 PM one week per year or responding to Station STAR duty during a service disruption, system-wide at various hours including nights and weekends. This program is designed to improve Metro-North’s ability to provide customer service during emergencies that impact service delivery or other service disruptions that require staff to provide directions and information to MNR customers at GCT or outlying stations. Please note, hours worked during your participation week are subject to change.
