Work involves (1) managing, directing, planning, and coordinating professional services contracts and construction contracts; and (2) managing departmental programs. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others. May perform engineering design and prepare specifications and estimates. Works under minimal supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the Department head.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited college. Minimum of 15 years of responsible professional engineering experience, with at least two years of supervisory or management experience. Each year of postgraduate study in engineering may be substituted for one year experience (other than required supervisory or management experience), up to two years of experience credit.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Registration as an Engineer in the State of Texas, or proof of eligibility for reciprocity at the time of appointment. Texas Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
