The Assistant State Engineer will provide leadership across all three Transportation Divisions. This position supervises and provides guidance to unit managers, and ensures completion of the Department’s goals and mission. Oversees the highway maintenance program for the State of Arizona, including establishing highway maintenance goals, performance measurements, strategic planning, and a statewide needs based maintenance budget.
Provides support and direction to the engineering district and regional staff in assuring compliance with the Department's vision and mission, and provides guidance for the improvement of highway maintenance
Responsible for the development of the annual pavement preservation program and the development and deployment of the Department’s Pavement Management System (PMS).
Has a high volume of contact with the general public, agency management, employees, civic leaders and a variety of governmentofficials, as well as news media.
Responsible for responding to phone, e-mail, letters, and all other inquiries from public and agency partners
This position provides consultation to the Deputy State Engineer and executive staff, as well as the Attorney General's Office, ADOT Risk Management, ADOA Risk Management, regarding litigation activities and strategies to reduce liabilities
