Part-time position available with KCMO’s Public Works Department, Capital Projects Division, 5310 Municipal Avenue. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Assists in developing traffic signal time plans and conducts filed investigations to evaluate the performance of the signal timing plans. Identifies safety, geometric and congestion issues through review of traffic counts and inspection of intersections. Must have knowledge of principles & practices of traffic engineering including standards & policies. Effectively communicates information both verbally and in writing. Prepares and reviews traffic signal modifications, traffic control plans and base maps using computer aided drafting (CAD) system. Prepares as-built drawings and calculates bid quantities. Prepares and reviews traffic signal timing plans and updates as needed, using computerized traffic signal programs. Work is performed under the direction of a Signal Timing Engineer. Inspects construction projects involving new traffic signal installations and remodeling of existing signals. Ensures contractor compliance with contract documents and time and prepares pay estimates. Provides support with the division’s snow removal duties.
REQUIRES an ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority.
