Research Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering (Ref.: 201701790)
Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering, to commence as soon as possible before June 1, 2018, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with a possibility renewal for another two-year term.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering or a related subject. They should have a background in research on advanced wastewater treatment with related energy and resource recovery and water reuse, and demonstrated expertise in sustainable urban water resources, solids-liquid separation, environmental materials or microbiology. Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Relevant post-doctoral work experience in wastewater research and publication track record are required.
The appointee will participate in a Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS) project and be involved in the work of the Centre for Water Technology and Policy. He/She is expected to take up a leading role in the research and management of the TRS project and the operations of the Centre. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered (starting at HK$713,580 p.a. or about US$91,485 p.a.). At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as annual leave and medical benefits.
