Manages the activities of engineering, capital improvements and directly oversees the Public Works Director to ensure capital improvement projects are implemented and City of Kingsville related construction and engineering projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Manages projects from initiation to completion, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, code requirements, safety regulations, design standards, construction timelines, labor resources, project costs and feasibility studies.
Advises the City Manager and other City officials on public works initiatives, serves on boards and committees and communicates with the public, civic groups, consultants, contractors, planning/zoning boards and other regulatory agencies.
The candidate in this position plans, directs and supervises comprehensive programs. Director is responsible for the recommendation of staff appointment, preparation and recommendation of department budget, and providing recommendation to the City Manager concerning City projects and serves on the City Manager's executive management team.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited college/university.
Professional registered Engineer in the State of Texas or ability to obtain registration within six (6) months of employment.
Five years of progressively responsible management experience with responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting and personnel management and operational planning preferably in a government setting.
Any combination of education and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Additional Salary Information: Fiscal Year 2017-2018 annual salary range is $ 76,933 - $ 109,571. In addition, the City of Kingsville offers an excellent benefit package which includes:
