Faculty Positions in Biological Engineering with Health Applications
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) are seeking applicants for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in the area of biological engineering with health applications. Areas of interest relevant to human health applications include, but are not limited to: molecular, cellular and / or tissue engineering, immunoengineering, biomaterials and biofabrication, biopharmaceuticals and bioprocessing, synthetic and systems biology, and human-microbe interactions.
We seek applicants who will contribute to our programs and will leverage investments by the University, including the Biodesign Institute, and collaborations that promote interdisciplinary teaching and research. Our health partners in the Valley include the Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.com), Translational Genomics Institute (TGEN; https://www.tgen.org), Barrow Neurological Institute (http://www.thebarrow.org), Banner Health (http://www.bannerhealth.com) and Phoenix Children’s Hospital (http://www.phoenixchildrens.org). The current openings are intended to broaden our expertise and expand collaborations.
Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and undertake service activities within the university, in the professional community and at the national level.
Appointments will be at the assistant, associate or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2018. Although the faculty appointment may be in any of the six Fulton Schools of Engineering, the Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy are currently among the most involved in the interest areas of the search.
•Earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a field related to the search topics
•Demonstrated evidence of research capability
•Commitment to teaching excellence as appropriate to the candidate’s rank
•Commitment to a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research and teaching
