Sioux City, Iowa (84,000) Dynamic loess hills community in northwest Iowa seeks experienced leader to serve as City Engineer. This position reports to the Director of Public Works. The City Engineer is responsible for leading the Engineering Division with an authorized staff of 15 FTE, a 2M Operating Budget, and oversees a large portion of the Capital Improvement Program (Avg: $25 million/yr.). The Division is responsible for planning, design, inspection, and project management on most of the City’s infrastructure including water, sanitary, storm, bridges and traffic engineering. The position is highly visible in the City organization and community.
Qualified candidates will be expected to have a strong background in leadership and management, community engagement, public presentations, civil and traffic engineering best practices. The City Engineer will play a significant role in infrastructure improvement, revitalization, and economic development in a stable, growing, and established family community.

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
10 years progressively responsible experience in municipal engineering (public and/or private sector).
Minimum 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
MBA or MPA desirable.
