The Deputy Transportation Director reports to the Transportation Director and is responsible for transportation Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project development as well as for roadway inspections, encroachment permitting and the Town’s pavement management system.
Oversees management of the project development process for transportation CIP projects, to include planning, design engineering, right-of-way acquisition, bidding and construction management and manages individual CIP projects as necessary.
Responsible for development of accurate project cost estimates utilizing localized and statewide bid data to ensure project viability for annual CIP budgeting process.
Establishes and implements strict budget and schedule adherence controls for construction projects to reduce potential for budget overruns and schedule delays.
Annually develops project scope, schedule and multi-year budget proposals for all transportation CIP projects.
Assists with development and management of department’s Strategic Plan objectives and initiatives.
Supervises the Project Engineer and Roadway Inspectors.
Ensures encroachment permitting process complies with Town and/or South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) standards.
Responsible for development of annual prioritized pavement rehabilitation list and execution of any related contracts.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and seven (7) years of work related experience in the transportation field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; A Professional Engineering or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer license is required and a Masters Degree is preferred.
Additional Salary Information: with excellent benefits, total compensation is $89,728.92 - 116,647.61/Annually
