The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a tenure track senior faculty position in the area of Construction Engineering Management to be filled as soon as possible. The rank and final appointment will be made at a level that is commensurate with the credentials of the individual selected.
Applicants are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and demonstrated ability for obtaining sponsored research. Emphasis will also be placed on practical construction experience and the ability of the candidate to teach construction applications and management methodologies from an engineering perspective. Forbes has ranked UAB among the top 75 large employers in the United States and No. 5 among universities, and is the only Alabama university classified as an institution of “very high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation.
The successful candidate will be expected to direct the online master's in Construction Engineering Management (CEM) program and teach and interact with graduate and undergraduate students. A proven track record of teaching and managing a program is desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, graduate and undergraduate students, practicing engineers, and contractors is highly desirable.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in civil engineering, or very closely related discipline, and be licensed or capable of achieving licensure as a Professional Engineer.
